Ball joints on a motorcycle?

I didn't like the way the frame tubes were just open behind where the shocks mounted and wanted to weld some sort of spike or something on there. An internet search didn't come up with the kind of spike I wanted but while messing around with my race car stuff, I spotted these ball joints from a 1967 MGB-GT. There are polished balls of steel and slid right into the frame tube, so I just welded them on.

Mark's bike-relocated rear shocks

I cut the upper shock mounts off and moved them about 4 inches forward, then cut off the excess tubing.

I did this purely for appearance, notice how the rear shock now lines up with the rear of the seat.

Mark's bike-seat hinge and front fender

This is the leftover piece from my rear fender but it was too wide so I cut the sides off of it.

Then used my cheapo Princess Auto bead roller to put a bead in the edge. I would rather have a curved 90 degree edge but couldn't figure out the dies that came with the roller.

And the finished fender
I cut all the unnecessary mounts off the top of the frame

Then welded the seat hinge in place
I made a new intake manifold so I could mount this Keihin carb

Mark's bike-the beginning

Here is the bike before I did any work on it. The tank is from a newer bike that I picked up from Ted at Thunder Road Cycles.

I put the new 5 inch wide rear tire on but of course the rim is so narrow that the tire lands up being only 4 inches wide.

I cut the new rear fender to size and it's short for the classic Bobber look.
I didn't need these fender supports anymore so off they went.

I also hated the bend of the stock handlebars so I heated them up and bent them into something I like.

That seat I bought online is way too big-anybody want a nice leather solo seat?

Briget's bike-front forks come off

Here's how it looked before we pulled the front forks off
The top of the triple tree came off after removing the two big chrome nuts on the top and the odd little pinch bolt in the picture below

And all the parts, ready for the trash bin or for rebuilding and refurbishing
